Hello All,
How many are thinking about using a Fuselage as opposed to a Pod for F3C?
I am looking at the the Vario Flash Fuselage for my Avro 90, first I have to see if the two match then go from there.
I wouldn't start out flying with a fuselage but at some point I would.
Why?
I think a full fuselage aircraft looks better in the Air.
They are easier to see for both the pilot and the judges.
It might be easier to see a judge being influenced by a model with a full fuselage, if two pilots put in otherwise equal flights do you think a judge would be more positive toward a full fuselage heli --- of course they are not supposed to be biased by anything other than the flight performance but facts of life --- they are. Good presentation - flight performance - and yes how the model looks all count even if only subconsciously. If I were a judge I would give points for what I was sure I could see, not by what I think I saw or could have seen. Pod and Booms are not as easy to see.
All this is good, But:
A full Fuselage does add to the cost, is more work to maintain and repair - more difficult to transport - and is not the best choice for starting out.
Will, I will still work on flying with a full fuselage, I will see what I can do with the Flash/Avro combination - Maybe even trying a full Flash/SkyFox mechanics first. I would like to make the Avro combination work, but it may not. I am not afraid of getting a Flash Fuselage/ SkyFox mechanics combination to test first then making my own Flash ala Mahoney Fuselage to work with the Avro!

In response to Jim Mahoney
Hello All,
Here is a link to the German Vario Web Site for the Flash Fuselage,
Check it out.
http://www.vario-helicopter.de/flash.html
And here is a link to the PDF Manual showing SkyFox mechanics installed in Flash fuselage for those wondering how it done. Vario did a nice job on the Manual.

If you have never seen a Vario Catalog (Katalog) before then you should. I don't think there is a bigger Heli company around, certainly Vario has more products than any other R/C Heli company.
Even if you never buy a Vario product you will want to have their catalog, it is an idea/dream book all in one.
Happy Flying,
