Since I have no capacity to do a nice job of painting a Hornet canopy, I hoped the pre-colored, pre-assembled Hummingbird canopy would fit on my Hornet instead. With a bit of coaxing and luck, it worked.
In case you're interested, here's what it looks like with closeups of how the canopy is cut on the bottom and how the carbon rod (that came with the canopy) is secured to the helicopter. What I did with the rod was glue it to thin plastic plates that were mounted on the rear cyclic servos with double-sided tape. The plastic plates were cut from a floppy diskette case. Done this way, it is possible to later remove the rod by slicing through the double-sided tape. I drilled new holes in the canopy, relocated the grommets, and trimmed away the old grommet locations.
It sits securely and is tight around the radio gear in front. There's just enough clearance below the front of the frame brace to fit my Pheonix 10, so it should be noted that if the heli has a gyro slung under there, it would have to be moved in order for the canopy to fit.
