Another Base shot for the news. This one is to show the link between MO. and IL. Yes both pics needed to be shot at sunset.

Quick question - which camera are you using and how are you triggering it.

I have a D-600L Olympus camera I'll be using on my machine. It has no remote trigger feature so I thought I would use the servo/cam method of yester-year. Any ideas you can share with us.

Thanks!

Mike
We use all digital and yes I still mount the servo's directly to the camera on some we do use a remote trigger hooked to a pix chip. I use the zoom function a lot so I like the servo on there and use expo to have a slow controlled zoom.
We have tons of cameras but the one daggit has the 75 and 85 shot all of these pictures in this video so you can see the quality.

7MEGS Tornado video

Sometimes still pics tell a good story.
Thanks John

Mike,
I don't know what the tripods are like for your Olympus but when you buy a Sony tripod you get a little remote switch that plugs into the camera to operate the shutter and zoom. I removed this remote from the tripod and mounted on the camera mount with servos to operate the shutter and zoom. I also used the quick-release mechanism from the tripod mount.

With this setup I can remove the camera while all of my triggering mechanisms stay onboard.

Daggit I did the same thing with the 85 Sony. I purchased the tripod and John
told me how to hack the remote but it works great.
You have shot some great stuff. I like the site looks good.

Heliraptor welcome aboard. Hey is it just the picture or
are there two large square holes in the old bridge? If those are holes you would think they would block the bridge off better.
Nice Picture, clear shot.

Hi John

With EU regulations coming over to the UK apparently all bridges have to meet new 'strength' standards, hence all bridges are being tested and replaced if need be.

The two apparent holes in the road surface are not holes, they simply removed the top surface of tarmac to get down to the concrete road bearing structure of the bridge.

Thanks for the comments on the shot, same go for yours, I particularly like the latter one where the boat is turning in the river, beautiful shot.

Nice shot. I love the road pics. I never posted on RR for fear of backlash. Hope the right guys come over. I think most are sick of it to.

Glad AirFoil moved here. Lets have some fun.

Hello Skycam!

I got the remote idea from John who got the idea from one of his customers so I just copied it... they had hacked into the remote and put little servos in there, but I thought it was just as easy to put the servos on the outside.

I'm with you on negative people... hope they stay away.. .

I REALLY get tired of people with NO experience, NO history, NO profilecoming in and slamming others who have something to show for thier efforts

Even though I don't currently have an aerial photo platform, I agree wholeheartedly with you, Daggit.

I've been a passive observer on the RR forum for some time now (I've posted a little, but never really got into it.) The thing that always bothered me about RR is that people seem so much more abusive. I seemed to see an awful lot of flaming and arguing, and it just created an atmosphere that I had no desire to be around.

Conversely, the reason I spend so much time on Rotory (in fact, almost exclusively), is because Rotory has been able (so far) to stay away from the B.S. arguing and pathetic posturing that plagues some of the other forums. What this place lacks in membership size, I believe it more than makes up for knowlegable, civilized discourse. I'd trust any of these guys to come to my home any day, but I wouldn't trust most of the people on RR any farther than I could throw them (with a few exceptions, like Malorie).

To be perfectly honest, I hope that Airfoil's decision to focus on Rotory.com doesn't bring all of the RR crap over here. I'm supremely interested in what you're doing (my 10-year goal is to take my experience in television/video production and my love for helis, and start my own aerial photography business), but it would really break my heart to see the flamers and other buttheads start coming over here and spewing their nonsense. Based on what I've seen on RR, Airfoil seems to be a bit of a lightning rod for criticism and aggression. I just hope this forum doesn't go south also.

Don't get me wrong, I welcome the addition of an active aerial thread (especially since I don't really like RR). I just pray that it stays clean.
