Hello All,

I have been talking about Weatronic Transmitter Modules and Dual Transmitter-Receivers in my Multiplex Post but Weatronic deserves its own Thread.

Weatronic not only supports Multiplex but also Futaba and JR(Graupner) Transmitters.

Check out this portion of the Weatronic-USA website which describes the features of the Weatronic System:

http://www.weatronic-usa.com/index.php?option=com_...

In a few days I will be able to start working with this system using my Multiplex. My son karl will upgrade his JR9303 Transmitter using the Weatronic 10-channel Micro RX and TX Module. He will do his own conversion and we will compare notes on our experiences then I will post what we find.

Hello All,

I received my Weatronic Multiplex MC4000 Conversion set today and it took about 4 min. to install. Very clean. I have to recharge the batteries in the TX then I will Bind the TX & RX and then start testing.

The RF TX Box presents a real low profile on the transmitter. I only had to file a little round slot at the top of the TX where the case back closes and done.

Very fast service, Gerhard's Weatronic-USA does just what he says he will do, and very willing to help. Will it can be said thats the way it should be, but all too often its not.

Hello All,

This is a repeat of my Multiplex 2.4 Post with a few additions, since the focus is Weatronic might as well cover it here also.

Range checked the Weatronic 12-channel system I installed on my MC4000 yesterday -- better than 300 feet in low power range check mode ( 1mW ), I didn't run out of range - I ran out of space at work! I will go to a different location this weekend where I will have a few thousand feet of space.

Spending some time with the software, TX and RX. The reading data from the receiver is a real working feature, not fiction. Received signal level from the two receivers, Battery voltage, temperature.

It is the Complete Package that sets the Weatronic apart from its Japanese counter parts. Weatronic is just in a class of its own! The Micro 12 receiver is small, smaller than my 72MHz Multiplex IPD receiver. The receiver antenna system is like the Futaba & Airtronic system so should be easy to install. I never cared for the JR/Spectrum Satellite receiver system, mainly be cause I don't trust the cable and connector s used.

The larger Weatronic receivers with built in Voltage Regulators, GPS, Gyros, Connectors for 20+ servos ......... If you have a Big Scale Project These are The Receivers to use! These receivers have the voltage regulator(s), multiple Gyros, GPS (not normally found on most models), dual battery switching system ---- so the price is not that high. While not something to put into a 3D machine, if you have a nice scale machine then I would sure use one of these receivers. The Micro receivers, 8 - 10 - 12 channel receivers are right for the Pod and Boom ships.

The one thing that I would like to see changed is the two switches on the TX Module should have some tactical feel to them, it is a little difficult to tell when the switch is really depressed.

I press the switch and it is probably depressed but I can't tell so I press all the harder --- this is usually not a good thing!

The experience of the Weatronic design team really shows, they were using the same techniques, as was ACT, when their products were operating at 35 and 72MHz, so the overall technique is the same and well tested.

Gerhard at Weatronic-USA has been very helpful all the way, he is getting product as quickly as he can, Weatronic is really working to the limit to keep up but they won't do anything that would compromise Quality! That's as it should be!

For those old enough to remember, there was once a 6 to 9 month waiting list to get an Orbit Proportional Radio!

One of the things I learned from talking with Gerhard is the timing needed when doing things, I was usually too fast. When you Bind the receiver turn on the receiver and let it finish its initialization process first, 5 to ten seconds, before inserting the binding jumper.

Hello All,

I spent a little more time working with the software.

The Spectrum analysis feature is a good way to learn something about positioning and what kind of objects can reduce signal levels in the system. Placing your hands over the TX Module causes a 20 dB loss in signal. In the coming days I will load the software on to my laptop so I can get out and do some real distance testing where I can see what is happening to the signal levels under different conditions. The old way of just walking out and seeing where the servos start to get jumpy then stop has always left me with a desire to know more - What is the real signal level? How does the received signal level change when the orientation of the antennas are changed?

Measure Tools, man learns more and can do a better job when he can measure parameters of an event or situation.

One of the selections in the spectrum measurement feature is the Active Scan Mode This allows one to see and measure any of the 2.4GHz systems, now every Weatronic owner can see what Weatronic or any other 2.4 system is doing. So far I looked at the Spectrum 7. This also gives a way of comparing how different systems react in different situations. This is not a completely general purpose tool as one needs to have a Weatronic system active for the software Spectrum Analysis feature to be active ( the feature works using the Weatronic Receiver and Transmitter module ), but then this is a perk for Weatronic Owners.

XPS does have spectrum analysis features, you buy the module which connects to your computer to communicate with your XPS system is not as as good as the Weatronic software but it does give some information.

In time the other manufacturers will have to come up with such features but Weatronic won't stand still.

The ACT system has extensive software software also but I have not started testing the ACT system yet. I need to get a Palm Pilot Handheld as that works easier to take to the field than a Laptop but there are always trade offs.

Hello All,

Here is a UTube Video of Gerhard of Weatronic-USA Showing the Weatronic System at Joe Nall:

http://video.google.com/videosearch?q=weatron ic+2....

This will take you to the Weatronic Page, then click the right arrow at Related Videos.

There are a number of Gerhard for Weatronic-USA UTube Videos showing how ro install, Bind, etc.

You should see every radio Manufacture doing this!

I will do this for the ACT Radio.
