    In response to GaryDoty

The spring will do a couple of things. If the linkage breaks the engine will stop or go to ldle. It also tightens a cheap servo deadband a tad by loading the slop out of the servo. You can reduce the spring tension, remove the spring or leave it as is with no problems. I usually reduce the spring tension by repositioning the spring on gassers.
