ITS NOT ILLEGAL TILL YOU GET CAUGHT!!!! 
i was looking to buy a heli off ebay last year that came with an old FG futaba gold series, I asked him if it had a recent sticker, it did not, when i told him it was illegal to you use it he laughed at me!
i hear its a hefty fine if you get busted..$5000 or so. It almost makes it worth it to buy a new 9Z eh???
